THE ROLE OF DESIGNERS AND ACADEMICIANS IN VISUAL BRANDING DEVELOPMENT OF BANDARDAWUNG MATEMATICS VILLAGE AS an EDUCATION TOURISM DESTINATION

Destination branding is currently being encouraged by the government to help a region to build a positive image following the potential and positioning of the target area. Bandardawung Village is one of the villages that is part of the Tawangmangu District, Karanganyar Regency. This village has advantages in the field of education, with the Kampung Mathematics program that has been initiated since 2016. The potential of Kampung Mathematics as one of the educational destinations in Karanganyar Regency needs to be strengthened through the development of visual branding. The method used to develop visual branding was adapted from the corporate branding approach proposed by Moser. The concept of visual branding that was developed accommodates the enthusiasm for learning in the fun and exciting Mathematics Village. The use of bright colors and a cartoony approach to visual branding is applied to the signage featuring the Kampung Matematika logo in a three-dimensional format and a mural measuring 4x6 meters can now be seen on the front and side of the Kampung Matematika Secretariat in Bandardawung Village. The role of designers and academics plays an important role in the development of visual branding that represents the spirit of Kampung Matematika in Bandardawung Village, Karanganyar Regency.
